UKIP polling shows Tories in trouble

Help floods in as UKIP polling shows Tories in trouble.

Helpers have flooded into the constituency as UKIP private polling shows the Tories rapidly losing ground to UKIP.

The latest internal poll figures show UKIP in a strong second place with over 22% of the vote, a huge increase from the 10% recorded less than 10 days ago. With just a week left until polling day, the UKIP campaign effort has shifted up a gear.

UKIP candidate Nigel Farage said, "Our members are really pulling out all the stops to ensure we maximise our support. Our message has struck a chord with local residents: only UKIP has the policies which match their views.

"What is very clear is that only UKIP has a chance at toppling the Tories in Bromley & Chislehurst: a vote for Labour or the Lib Dems is a sure way to return Bob Neill as Conservative MP."

He was joined on the campaign trail yesterday by Lady Caroline Pearson (pictured, above right), wife of former Tory peer Lord Pearson of Rannoch. Lord Pearson left the Conservative Party over its policy on Europe. She was on the campaign trail again today with her 2 daughters.

UKIP Economics spokesman Dr John Whittaker MEP (North Western Counties) (pictured, left) also joined the campaign, and was delighted to learn of the on-line poll carried out by local newspaper the Bromley Times, which asked 'Do you want Bob Neill as your MP?'. A resounding 87% had answered 'NO!'
